NMPA publications are produced on a number of topics related to maternity care and service provision and can all be found via the links below. We publish reports and academic papers, as well as our contributions to national conferences and events.
The NMPA clinical audit measures cover various aspects of maternity and neonatal care provided by NHS maternity services in England, Scotland and Wales. This information is intended for use by healthcare professionals, managers, commissioners, collaborative networks and national organisations, and by women and families using the services.

The NMPA organisational surveys provide an overview of care provision by NHS maternity services in all settings across England, Scotland and Wales. The two surveys are snapshots of the organisation of care in January 2017 and January 2019, and reflect the changes which are being implemented as a result of the maternity and neonatal services reviews and other initiatives.

In addition to the continuous clinical audit and the organisational survey, the NMPA undertakes a programme of work to evaluate the feasibility of introducing new clinical measures. These ‘sprint audits’ are time limited evaluations of the NMPA’s dataset with additional linkages to new datasets where appropriate.
